Job Summary:
Market Research: Assists the Market Research department in the tracking and maintenance of competitive and demographic information as well as the identification of new developments within the health care industry. Responsibilities include extensive monitoring of news and benefit design for all local and national competitors via website and newspaper searches as well as interpersonal contacts; maintaining up-to-date national, state and county demographics via predetermined channels; periodic assistance with focus group planning and telephonic surveys; and, accompany sales and wellness experts on company visits to further obtain a sense of market concerns.
Product Development:Assists the Director of Product Development and Manager, New Products in the design, implementation and evolvement of new products/benefits. Responsible for identifying and investigating emerging new product opportunities within a defined range of responsibility (e.g., health information reporting, individual products, association products, retiree products, group health products, e-commerce). Involved in design, development and testing of select new products.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern would work with Product Development and Market Research staff and other sales/marketing staff as needed (such as sales coordinators, etc.). Specific projects the Product Development intern would be responsible for include:
Follow-up on new product implementation to ensure new products are working smoothly in the market.
Qualifications:
-Candidate should have experience using some of the more common computer software programs such as Excel, Lotus, Powerpoint, Access, and Word.
-Candidate should be a “people” person, comfortable in calling and meeting with employers, other health insurance companies, and various GHP employees both in phone and in person.
-Candidate should be studying a field of business such as marketing, management, accounting, finance, or operations management. Other majors will be considered.
-Candidate should have a “self-starter,” outgoing personality. A person who is goal-oriented, wants to be productive, and can work independently is preferred.
