Announcement


The Department of MIS/CIS, College of Business, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, is pleased to announce an exciting new academic competition open to all registered undergraduate BU students regardless of their major.  This contest is being organized to recognize and reward the intellectual capabilities of our students.

The current year’s Marathon of the Mind consists of three separate contests:

  • A Math, Logic, and Technology (MLT)  contest
  • An essay contest on the topic..>>> Technology, Morality, and Management:  Connections, Conflicts, and Controversies
  • A debating contest on the theme ..>>> The Robotic Organization

REGISTRATION
Participation is open to all undergraduate BU students by prior registration.  In order to register for one or more of the contests, please Click here .      

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION
The last date for registration for one or more of the contests is 3 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2008.  A student may participate in one, two, or all the three contests.

AWARDS
The following prizes will be awarded for each of the contests during an Awards Luncheon at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Magee Center.

First Prize:  A Savings Bond in the amount of $1000 plus a Plaque and a Certificate of Merit

Second Prize: A savings Bond in the amount of $400 plus a Plaque and a Certificate of Merit

Merit Prizes (2): A Plaque and a Certificate of Merit

JUDGING OF ENTRIES
The essays submitted will be judged by an Independent Panel of Judges.  The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
